Welcome to My Page

I grew up north of Pittsburgh and went to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) for my undergraduate degree in Child Development/Family Relations.  I then went to the University of Pittsburgh for my Masters in Education Certification in School Counseling.  I am certified K-12 in school counseling.  I moved to Pawleys Island, SC in 1997 and started my counseling career at Choppee High School.  In 2000 when Pleasant Hill High School and Choppee High School merged - Carvers Bay High School was formed.  I transferred to Waccamaw Elementary in 2002 to be closer to my son, Garrison who is now 14 and attends Waccamaw Middle School.  I also have an 11 year old daughter named Danni Grace who attends Waccamaw Intermediate School.

I have been given the opportunity to counsel at Plantersville splitting my time .5 as a Parenting Coordinator and .5 as a School Counselor. I was named Plantersville Teacher of the Year in 2014-2015 and the 2015 Waccamaw Regions Counselor of the Year.

In the classrooms we work on lessons which include career exploration, understanding soft skills, successful study skills, positive teamwork, positive peer relations, successful conflict resolution, school expectation awareness, following school and home rules, why it’s important to share, successful ways to make friends, anti-bullying activities, having good manners, avoiding tattling and many other areas of concern.

PBIS is used to create consistency through out the school and in my classroom.  Incentives and rewards are given weekly to students who accept responsibility for their behavior and show respect in their every day activities

Please contact me at 543-8453 for any personal concerns or to make a referral for your child.
